Roberto Clemente

Roberto Clemente was born on August 18, 1934, in Barrio, San Antón. He died on December 18, 1972, at the age of 38. He was given numerous awards. A Golden Glove is an award handed out to players who had a wonderful defensive season. A total of 18 Golden Gloves are handed out each year. Golden Gloves go to one player at each position for both the National League and American League. Roberto Clemente got two/thirds of the awards. He has also received 3 Civilian awards presented by the president of the USA. He was the only one to hit a walk-off inside-the-park grand slam in baseball history. I chose Roberto Clemente because he let other Hispanics know that you don’t have to be American to play the game of baseball. He was a great influence and motivated a lot of people to play the game of baseball.
